The three kinds of cookie we use
Essential cookies keep the site working: remembering the cookie choice you made, and protecting our forms from spam. These do not need your consent, because the site cannot work without them. They are always on and cannot be switched off.
Arrival cookies record how you reached us. Two small files are written when you arrive, before you choose: the site that sent you, the campaign link you followed, the page you landed on and when. They hold no name and no identifier, they keep no record of what you read, and they cannot tell us you have been here before. One lasts 90 days and is never rewritten or extended, so it expires 90 days after your first visit and not 90 days after your last. The other lasts until you close the browser. Turning the analytics off leaves them in place, because they are not analytics. Choosing Essential only removes them, and so does unticking them in your preferences.
Analytics cookies help us understand how the site is used. We use one service for this: PostHog. It tells us which pages are read, which links people follow and how far down a page they get. It also records how you move through the site, so we can play a visit back and see where people get stuck. The recording shows the page as you saw it, with your movement and your clicks. It does not hold anything you type, and the booking screens are not recorded at all. Your IP address is anonymised.
That is the whole list. We do not use social-media tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share what these cookies record.
How choosing works
On your first visit, a banner asks you to choose. Before you answer it, the site has set its essential cookies and the two arrival cookies above, and nothing else. No third party has been contacted: PostHog is not loaded and switched off, it is not fetched at all.
The banner asks you about the analytics. It gives you two ways to answer, and a third if you want the detail first:
- Accept all says yes to the analytics, and keeps the arrival cookies.
- Essential only says no, and it means what it says: the analytics are refused and the two arrival cookies are deleted, so nothing but the essential cookies is left. Refusing is exactly as easy as accepting, one click on the same screen, and it costs you nothing: the site works the same either way.
- See what we measure opens the detail, where the analytics and the arrival cookies each have their own tick, so you can read what each covers before you decide.
No third party is loaded unless you agreed to it. Switching the analytics off there leaves the arrival cookies alone, and unticking the arrival cookies deletes them without touching anything else.
Your choice is remembered in the essential consent cookie, so the banner does not reappear on your next visit.
You can change your mind at any time, in either direction. Withdrawing stops those cookies from being set again, and we delete the ones already on your device. To reopen the choice:
