Cookie policy

Cookies are small files a website stores on your device. This page lists every cookie this site can set, what each one does, and how you choose. We use as few as we can.

In effect from 26 August 2026

The three kinds of cookie we use

Essential cookies keep the site working: remembering the cookie choice you made, and protecting our forms from spam. These do not need your consent, because the site cannot work without them. They are always on and cannot be switched off.

Measurement cookies help us understand how the site is used. There are two: Google Analytics, which tells us in the aggregate which pages are read and where visitors arrive from, and HubSpot, which records which pages you read before you wrote to us, so that when we reply we can see what you were looking at.

Advertising cookies are separate, and you choose them separately. Google Ads tells us which of our adverts brought someone to the site, and whether they went on to contact us. You can accept the measurement above and refuse these, and many people do. It costs you nothing either way, and it does not change what you see.

That is the whole list. We do not use social-media tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share what any of these cookies record.

How choosing works

On your first visit, a banner asks you to choose. Until you choose, only essential cookies exist. Nothing else has loaded: not Google Analytics, not HubSpot, not Google Ads. They are not loaded and switched off, they are not fetched at all.

There are two things to say yes or no to: the measurement and the advertising. They are separate, and you can answer them differently. The banner gives you three ways to do that:

  • Accept all says yes to both.
  • Essential only says no to both. Refusing is exactly as easy as accepting, one click on the same screen, and it costs you nothing: the site works the same either way.
  • Choose which puts the two in front of you separately, so you can accept one and refuse the other. Accepting the measurement and refusing the advertising is a normal choice, and it is one click away, not buried.

Only what you agreed to is loaded. Accept the measurement alone and no advertising cookie is ever set. Accept the advertising alone and no analytics cookie is ever set.

Your choice is remembered in the essential consent cookie, so the banner does not reappear on your next visit.

You can change your mind at any time, in either direction, and for each of the two separately. Withdrawing one leaves the other exactly as it was: if you drop the advertising and keep the measurement, we delete the advertising cookies and touch nothing else. Withdrawing stops that kind of cookie from being set again, and we delete the ones already on your device. To reopen the choice:

You can also clear this site's cookies in your browser at any time; the banner will simply ask you again on your next visit.
